Maria is a designer and artist, creating out of her studio in Ottawa, Ontario. With asian roots, european life experience and education, Maria thrives in diverse and inclusive environments. In her free time, Maria is dedicated to volunteering by mentoring other creatives, giving priority to women, those who are in the beginning of their careers, women immigrants and those who struggle with impostor syndrome.
Maria’s current body of work reflects her study on the positive effect of art and aesthetics on mental health and wellbeing. She experiments with various media and techniques and creates dynamic compositions that evoke positive emotional response.
Mesmerized by the look of flowers right after the rain, Maria paints a series of floral artworks to share her impression of light that appears in the air around flowers during warm summer rainfalls. Threads of mixed light and rain that fall from the sky on the gentle petals and cast reflections back into the environment.
Dynamism in her work is about embracing and accepting that the state of things is forever changing. It’s about respecting the natural lifecycle and the idea of constant movement. Maria believes that through art we can make people feel love and care. Through art we can influence each other to live the moment and enjoy it.
