"As an interior designer, I'm always on the hunt for unique pieces that breathe life into spaces. Artterra's curated collection never disappoints. Each piece is a conversation starter, and their commitment to originality is unmatched. A designer's dream destination." — Amelia L.

Inspired by my Colombian heritage and the work of 18th C. photographer Karl Blossfeldt, these wall sculptures aspire to highlight the beauty and biodiversity of plants native to Colombia. Colombia is considered to have the greatest diversity of Passiflora in the world, with over 175 species inventoried and acts as an indicator of Colombia's biodiversity as the species interacts with and supports a plethora of organisms and other plants.

Designed to hover off the wall and cast a soft shadow, these domes are each, uniquely hand painted with glaze, bearing unique colour applications and combinations, and merge my love of sculpture, watercolour and block-printing techniques to reveal elegant plant silhouettes as would be seen through an x-ray.

Size: 5.5x2 in | 14x5.1 cm

Each piece has a hole in the back that is meant to sit on a small nail with a head hammered at at an angle for secure hanging.

THE ARTIST'S STORY

Gina Jacklin

Gina Jacklin's work seeks to unveil the beauty of life unseen from a scientific lens that, together with a Christ-centred perspective, strives to convey that all life forms have been expertly created. Through the complexity and design of even the smallest and seemingly insignificant organisms, intrinsic purpose, intellect, and beauty are highlighted.

When magnified through a microscope, our seemingly mundane world reveals a magical landscape, teeming with beauty and the strokes of pure genius that allude to the handiwork of a Grand Designer. Often using micrographs as reference material, Gina's work offers a window into this mysterious and microscopic dimension, connecting viewers with the beauty, awe, and wonder of creation.

The ultimate aim of Gina's work is to spark a sense of joy, hope, and wonder in viewers by offering a glimpse into the intricate and fascinating world of microorganisms. The combination of a scientific lens and a Christ-centered perspective creates a unique perspective that highlights the beauty and purpose found in all life forms, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.
