THE ARTIST'S STORY

Tanya Legall

Tanya Legall is Visual Artist with a Master of Public Health degree in Environmental and Occupational Health. She is currently an Infection Control Professional in the Healthcare industry.

Originally from the beautiful twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Tanya’s love for the Visual Arts was discovered in High School at the age of 12 years old. Her late Visual Arts teacher, Ms. Judy DeSouza was Tanya’s inspiration…she believed in Tanya and saw her full potential. This was the precursor to Tanya’s journey in the Arts.

While working in the Cayman Islands and during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Tanya rediscovered her passion for art and immersed herself as a means to destress and express her feelings on canvas. Tanya defines her pieces as a safe space where she can be free to express all raw thoughts and feelings on canvas.

As a local Artist in Toronto, Tanya’s specialty is Abstract art. Her media of choice is acrylic and mixed media to achieve textured pieces.

Tanya has created some of her beautiful pieces in Temagami, ON and the Cayman Islands. These two serene environments have helped inspire her to create these beautiful and unique pieces.

Some of Tanya’s pieces have been featured in a couple exhibitions: “Collective H’arts 2023” Exhibition at the Drake Hotel, Toronto, ON (May 25, 2023) and the “New Vistas: Spaces We Inhabit” juried Exhibition at the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery (November 30, 2022 to January 12, 2023)

Tanya hopes that you enjoy her pieces that she shares with you in her safe space.
